Roger L. (Vern) Davenport, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Vern Davenport has served as M*Modal’s Chief Executive Officer since joining the company in July 2011, and brings more than 30 years of industry knowledge and expertise in healthcare and technology services.

Under Mr. Davenport’s leadership, M*Modal is building on its position as the largest provider of medical transcription services in the U.S. to deliver the industry’s most innovative and comprehensive clinical documentation technology, products and services supporting speech, transcription, coding and analytics. In support of this vision, he has guided the company through strategic acquisitions, rebranded the company from MedQuist to M*Modal in January 2012, and overseen M*Modal’s transition from public to privately held company in August 2012.

Prior to joining M*Modal, in 2011 Mr. Davenport served as special senior strategic advisor to the Chairman of Quintiles Transnational Corp., a pharmaceutical services provider offering clinical, commercial, consulting and capital solutions. In 2007, Mr. Davenport joined Misys Healthcare Solutions, LLC, as Chief Executive Officer, and led the strategic merger of Misys with Allscripts to form one of the healthcare industry’s leading providers of clinical software services, information and connectivity solutions in 2008.

Mr. Davenport has a broad range of experience across the entire healthcare information technology spectrum including radiology, modalities and software technology. He has served as an executive for companies such as IBM, Shared Medical Systems, Kodak Health Group and Siemens Medical Solutions. He is currently a member of the Nashville Healthcare Council’s Board of Directors.

He earned a BA and an MBA from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C.

Michael Finke, President

Michael Finke, President

Michael Finke has served as M*Modal’s President since August 2011. Mr. Finke co-founded MultiModal Technologies, Inc. in 2001 and served as its Chairman and CEO from 2001 until August 2011, when the company merged with MedQuist to form M*Modal. In his current role, Michael is responsible for leading the critical functions that develop M*Modal’s corporate strategy as well as products and services that incorporate advanced technology capabilities, direct partner initiatives, and drive marketing initiatives that boost market results.

Prior to MultiModal, Mr. Finke was Chief Technology Officer and a co-founder of Interactive Systems, Inc. and has held positions at IBM, the University of Karlsruhe and Carnegie Mellon University.

Mr. Finke earned his B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in computer science from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany.

Ronald L. Scarboro, Chief Financial Officer

Ronald L. Scarboro, Chief Financial OfficerMr. Scarboro has served our Chief Financial Officer since September 2011. Mr. Scarboro joined the Company on August 15, 2011 as a senior financial executive. Prior to his tenure with the Company, Mr. Scarboro, most recently served as the CFO of the Strategic Diversification at Aetna, Inc., a public international diversified health care benefits company from June 2011 until August 2011. From October 2008 until June 2011, Mr. Scarboro held the titles of CFO—Professional Solutions, Senior Vice President of Finance and Senior Vice President—Strategic Programs Office of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc., a provider of clinical software, services, information and connectivity solutions. From November 2007 until the merger of Allscripts and Misys Healthcare Systems, LLC in October 2008, Mr. Scarboro was Chief Financial Officer of Misys Healthcare Systems, LLC, an ambulatory and post-acute healthcare software and services company. From April 2004 until October 2007, Mr. Scarboro was Vice President of Financial Accounting and Corporate Services for The TriZetto Group, Inc., a public payer focused healthcare software and services company. Mr. Scarboro has a broad range of financial and operating experience in payer, acute, post-acute and ambulatory healthcare information technology companies. He earned a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Amy Amick, Chief Operating Officer

Amy Amick, Chief Operating Officer

Amy Amick has served as M*Modal’s Chief Operating Officer since joining M*Modal in January 2012. Among her responsibilities, Ms. Amick ensures that our customer facing functions are highly successful and impactful, including Professional Services, Transcription Operations, Support, Cloud Services, Acquisition Integrations and Customer M*Pact, our Customer Management team.

Ms. Amick has a broad range of operational management, services management and process improvement experience in healthcare information technology companies. Prior to M*Modal, Ms. Amick was General Manager, Worldwide Services for Microsoft’s Health Solutions Group from 2009 to 2012, and was responsible for global implementation, customer support, customer relationships, and training and education. From 2008 to 2009, Ms. Amick held the position of Senior Vice President, Services for Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc., a provider of clinical software, services, information and connectivity solutions, where she was accountable for implementation services, transformation services, Allscripts Academy (intra and external training center) and warehouse operations. Prior to its merger with Allscripts, she was Senior Vice President, Enterprise Services of Misys Healthcare Systems, LLC. She has also held several executive positions at Cerner Corporation.

She earned a MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and a BA from the University of Richmond.

William (Bill) J. Donovan, Senior Vice President of Human Resources

William (Bill) J. Donovan, Senior Vice President of Human ResourcesBill Donovan has served as M*Modal’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources since joining the company in October 2011. In this role, Mr. Donovan leads the human resources and corporate communications activities supporting over 12,000 employees globally.

Prior to joining M*Modal, Mr. Donovan was the Executive Director of Ronald McDonald Charities in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina. In his 20+ years at Nortel Networks, one of the world’s largest telecommunications services companies, Mr. Donovan held a number of senior executive roles, including leading the global human resources organization and driving improvements in business transformation, staffing and talent development across the company’s global workforce.

He holds a BA in business administration from East Carolina University and MBA from Campbell University.

Mike Etue, Executive Vice President of Sales

Mike Etue, Executive Vice President of SalesMr. Etue has served as our Executive Vice President of Sales since October of 2012. Mr. Etue brings over 40 years of Healthcare Experience and 30 years of HIS Sales and Sales Leadership to M*Modal. For the past 2 years, he has been the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Provider Markets for OptumInsight. Before that, Mike served as Senior Vice President of Sales at Misys Healthcare Systems, Inc. (unit acquired by Allscripts) where he led his sales teams in driving top line growth in the sale of practice management, EMR and transaction solutions within the ambulatory healthcare market. Prior to joining Misys in July 2007, Mike served as Senior Vice President of Sales at Eclipsys Corp., where he led customer support implementations, acute care sales, and key account relationships across the country and served as an officer of the company. He has also led a variety of sales executive and management roles at SMS/Siemens Medical Systems and served in hospital administration at several hospitals, including Mercy Memorial Hospital, People’s Community Hospital and Detroit Osteopathic Hospital in Detroit.

Juergen Fritsch, Chief Scientist

Juergen Fritsch, Chief ScientistDr. Juergen Fritsch has served as M*Modal’s Chief Scientist since August 2011. In this function, he is responsible for innovation and thought leadership activities around M*Modal’s speech understanding and clinical documentation workflow solutions.

Dr. Fritsch co-founded MultiModal Technologies, Inc. in 2001 and served as its Chief Scientist from 2001 until August 2011, when the company merged with MedQuist to form M*Modal. Prior to MultiModal, Dr. Fritsch was one of the founders of Interactive Systems, Inc., where he served as Principal Research Scientist and was responsible for developing a next-generation medical speech understanding system. Dr. Fritsch also held research positions at the University of Karlsruhe and at Carnegie Mellon University.

He earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany.

Matthew Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Corporate Business Development

Matthew Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Corporate Business Development

Matt Jenkins has served as M*Modal’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Business Development since joining the company in November 2011. Mr. Jenkins is responsible for leading all aspects of the company’s inorganic growth including development of strategic partnerships, mergers, acquisitions, investments and alliances.

Mr. Jenkins formerly led corporate development at Allscripts where he helped transform Allscripts through a period of dynamic growth, including the merger with Eclipsys in 2010, the 2008 merger with Misys Healthcare, the divesture of the Misys Hospital businesses in 2007 and several other transactions. As Vice President of Corporate Development and member of the Misys Healthcare operating board (Misys, plc) his responsibilities included developing the strategic plan for the portfolio and leading the formation of many partnerships and alliances. Mr. Jenkins has also held operational leadership roles in the ambulatory, acute, and post-acute business lines of Allscripts.

Mr. Jenkins was one of the three founding members of Cellective Therapeutics (acquired by AstraZeneca), a venture-funded biotechnology firm focused on developing industry-leading therapeutic antibodies for the treatment of oncology and immune-related diseases. His background also includes roles in venture capital and strategy consulting.

Mr. Jenkins holds a BS in Business Administration and his MBA from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Detlef Koll, Chief Technology Officer

Detlef Koll, Chief Technology OfficerDetlef Koll has served as M*Modal’s Chief Technology Officer since August 2011.

Mr. Koll co-founded MultiModal Technologies, Inc. in 2001 and served as its Chief Technology Officer from 2001 until August 2011, when the company merged with MedQuist to form M*Modal.

Prior to MultiModal, Mr. Koll was a Co-Founder and Vice President for product development for Interactive Systems, Inc. and served as Director of Speech Recognition Research at Lernout & Hauspie Speech Products. He has held research positions at Carnegie Mellon University and Advanced Telecommunications Research Laboratories in Kyoto, Japan.

Mr. Koll earned his B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in computer science from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany.

Albert (Chuck) Musciano, Chief Information Officer

Albert (Chuck) Musciano, Chief Information Officer

Chuck Musciano has served as M*Modal’s Chief Information officer since joining M*Modal in April 2012. He is responsible for the operational facilities and technology infrastructure that reliably serve M*Modal customers and employees around the globe.

Previously, Mr. Musciano spent seven years as Chief Information Officer for Martin Marietta Materials, a publicly traded producer of construction aggregates, where he was responsible for leveraging Martin Marietta Materials’ information infrastructure to provide significant competitive advantage across a broad range of business activities. In addition, Mr. Musciano provided executive-level strategic consulting to a broad range of clients and served as CIO of the American Kennel Club, where he architected the AKC’s transition from a legacy mainframe system to a client/server web-based computing environment.

Mr. Musciano is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Michael Raymer, Senior Vice President of Solutions Management

Michael Raymer, Senior Vice President of Solutions ManagementMr. Raymer has served as our Senior Vice President of Solutions Management since January 2012. Mr. Raymer most recently served as General Manager for Microsoft’s Health Solutions Group from 2008 until December 2011 where he was responsible for Microsoft’s healthcare vertical products, and had global responsibility for enterprise, government and consumer solutions for Microsoft’s customers. From 2007 to 2008, Mr. Raymer was the Senior Vice President, Solutions Management of Misys Healthcare Systems, LLC, an ambulatory and post-acute healthcare software and services company, where he created strategic framework and product roadmap capitalizing on market opportunities. From 2006 to 2007, Mr. Raymer, was the Vice President and General Manager of Global Product Strategy for GE Integrated IT Solutions, a subsidiary of GE Healthcare, where he led company strategy, market research, government relations and partner management for GE’s software solutions for inpatient and ambulatory care markets. From 2001 to 2006, Mr. Raymer was the Senior Vice President and General Manager of IDX Systems Corporation, a global healthcare IT company.

Kathryn Twiddy, Chief Legal Officer

Kathryn Twiddy joined M*Modal in May 2012 as Chief Legal Officer. Ms. Twiddy is responsible for all legal and compliance activities at the corporate and operational levels.

Before joining M*Modal, Ms. Twiddy was Vice President, Senior Associate General Counsel at Quintiles Transnational Corporation in Durham, NC, where she was general counsel to Quintiles Commercial, global employment counsel and senior intellectual property counsel for the company. Kathy has over 20 years of law firm and in-house experience in the Technology/Life Sciences industry, including over five years as General Counsel of Misys Healthcare Systems, three years as a partner in Kilpatrick Stockton LLP, and more than seven years with IBM Corporation. She has broad-based legal experience in complex corporate and technology transactions, corporate governance, employment and healthcare law.

Ms. Twiddy graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill, N.C., where she also earned her BA in Journalism.

Jonathan Handler, Chief Medical Information Officer

Jonathan Handler, Chief Medical Information OfficerJonathan Handler, MD, FACEP joined M*Modal in June 2012 as Chief Medical Information Officer. Dr. Handler is responsible for enhancing the company’s clinical and medical informatics strategic initiatives, and for providing input and physician perspective to the design and implementation of M*Modal’s technology solutions to the healthcare industry.

Dr. Handler is a board-certified emergency physician with twenty years of experience in Medical Informatics. In addition to more than a decade of clinical practice at academic medical centers, he previously served as the Chief Deployment Architect at the Health Solutions Group in Microsoft, Director of Azyxxi Development at the National Institute for Medical Informatics, and Director of Emergency Medicine Research and Informatics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he remains an Adjunct Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Handler’s professional activities include serving as Director of Development for the National Center for Emergency Medicine Informatics, past President and past Secretary/Treasurer of the American College of Emergency Physicians Informatics Section, and a founding member of the Academic Informatics Group of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Handler holds a BA in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a MD from University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. He is a graduate of the combined Georgetown/George Washington University Emergency Medicine residency program.

Katherine Keith Thomas, Chief of Staff

Katherine Keith Thomas, Chief of StaffKatherine Thomas has served as M*Modal’s Chief of Staff since joining the company in August 2012. In this role, Ms. Thomas leads customer and community affairs and helps to drive strategic priorities and growth opportunities.

Ms. Thomas joins M*Modal after more than twenty-five years of leadership in the electric service industry. Most recently, Katherine served as Director – Community Relations and Economic Development for Progress Energy (now Duke Energy), where she also led organizations responsible for customer service, operations, marketing and sales, and administrative services.

Ms. Thomas has focused on customer and community relations throughout her career and has held a number of influential and impactful roles supporting North Carolina and beyond. She currently chairs the Duke Raleigh Hospital Advisory Board and serves on the Board of Directors for Duke University Medical Center, Make-A-Wish, and Step-Up Ministry. In addition, she is an active member of the North Carolina Chamber and Meredith College Business Advisory Board.

A magna cum laude graduate of Meredith College, Ms. Thomas received the 2012 Distinguished Alumnae Award from her alma mater.
