M*Modal Fluency Flex™ will enhance productivity and workflows at Erlanger’s five campuses
Franklin, Tenn. – June 26, 2013 – M*Modal, a leading provider of clinical documentation and Speech Understanding™ solutions, today announced an expanded relationship with Erlanger Health System to deliver exclusive outsourced transcription and front-end speech recognition technologies. Erlanger has selected M*Modal Fluency Flex™ to bring greater choice, efficiency and cost savings in creating reports and documenting patient records.
Erlanger, a non-profit with five medical campuses and over 1,000 beds, treats more than a quarter-million patients every year and is the only provider of tertiary care services for the citizens of an entire four-state region, encompassing southeast Tennessee, north Georgia, north Alabama and western North Carolina. M*Modal has provided Erlanger with transcription services for more than 10 years.
M*Modal Fluency Flex is a document creation module within the M*Modal Fluency for Transcription™ cloud-based Speech Understanding platform. With M*Modal Fluency Flex physicians have the ability to use real-time, front-end speech recognition to either self-edit documents or send them to transcription for review and editing. With the self-edit option, physicians also have immediate access to the final report, which they can then sign electronically. To support the natural and individual workflows of physicians, M*Modal Fluency Flex provides physicians with additional document creation capabilities so that they can focus on what matters most — patient care.
“Eliminating outdated and time-consuming reporting methods will result in better patient care, which is always our goal,” said Jim Brown, HIM Enterprise Director of Erlanger Health System. “Not only will M*Modal Fluency Flex’s simple interface be faster and easier for our physicians to use, the system will result in significant cost savings for our institution.”
M*Modal Fluency Flex uses the same cloud-based Speech Understanding technology that powers M*Modal’s back-end speech recognition and transcription process, utilizing existing physician speech profiles to deliver out-of-the-box accuracy. Additionally, for the transcription workflow, M*Modal Fluency Flex gives physicians the choice to dictate via phone, handheld or mobile devices if they are not near a work station.
“We are proud to expand our relationship with Erlanger to provide sophisticated and flexible technologies that will give physicians tremendous freedom in how they create and manage patient records,” said Duncan James, CEO of M*Modal. “With M*Modal Fluency Flex, healthcare providers can verbally document patient records as well as leverage the expertise of medical transcription services to ensure efficient, highly accurate documentation.”
Unlike other speech recognition technologies, M*Modal Fluency products use a single underlying speech platform, giving each physician access to his/her trained voice profile across any application. In addition, these cloud-based solutions offer users choices in accessing and capturing clinical documentation anytime and anywhere. The M*Modal platform offers strong medically trained speech recognition and Natural Language Understanding by capturing and processing the documentation of more than 200,000 doctors that access it on a daily basis.
